Stock Video - Orion nebula. Composite infrared view of the Orion Nebula (M42 and M43), an emission nebula in the constellation Orion, 1350 light years from Earth ...
. The stars powering this nebula are a tight cluster called the Trapezium at its core. The radiation pressure and stellar winds of young stars have opened up a large cavity in the gas cloud from which they formed. Infrared imaging penetrates the dusty regions of the nebula and exposes many young stars and other features. Imagery obtained from the HAWK-I infrared camera on the European Southern Observatory s Very Large Telescope.
